Lions – a pride feeding on a wildebeest, “McDonalds of the Serengeti during the migration”. Quite a lot of protocol – dominant male feeds first and only when he has his fill, do the lionesses and young lions get to feed, if they try to come close, he snarls and fends them off, they waited impatiently at times! During our sighting another male appeared in the distance to join the pride. Also, the black backed Jackals showed up, hoping for scraps. Wonderful watching the interaction and head bumping.
Cheetahs – Saw a mother and her two 8-month-old boys, they were playful and walked for some time through the plains in search of a kill, did look as if mom may hunt. Beautiful sighting, unfortunately for us no kill, more playful than anything else.
Journey of giraffe – watched them feeding and then drinking, the stance when they are drinking looks so awkward. Love watching them.
Vultures and Marabou stork – a carcass feeding frenzy.
A great day all round and wonderful to be in the bush again. Glenn and I shared Valentine’s Day cards this evening as our morning start was too early, felt special to be in the bush…I love Africa!!!
